The intention is to examine the aesthetic and discursive effects of the natural environment and social structures, and their artistic possibilities in the materialisation of psychological, corporal and emotional landscapes. Santos will carry out a residency, an exhibition at the P28 of the Psychiatric Hospital in Lisbon, as well as a series of workshops and public talks. The exhibition will include a selection of recent work, new commissions and site-specific interventions.

The idea is to explore the artistic possibilities of embroidery, painting, sculpture, and photography within space, as well as in the interplay with the mind, body, and affective experience. To do this, the artist will examine ways in which socio-cultural and natural-ecological contexts where he finds himself situated are reflected as intensities and energies in his multiple and complex subjective interior. The intention is to manipulate and transform a variety of artistic media displayed in the exhibition space, into embodiments of this subjective interior as raw material, which will ultimately expose exterior realities of the multiple and complex collective experience. The problematics to be addressed include ecological devastation, physical and mental health, the subversion of marginalised and legitimised spaces, as well as the emotional effects of these realities produced by the art encounter.
